Helping the Troops
Mrs. Byers first grade class with generous donations from SHP staff sent 20 packages overseas to troops.  They were studying economics and used this as an opportunity to discover how an assembly line works.  The students formed a line and each one had an item to add to the bags as they were passed down the line.  The students learned the advantages of an assembly line and how many factories are run.  Included in the care package was a video with messages to the troops and letters to soliders.  Mrs. Whitford, Mrs. Riddle, Mrs. Smith's, and Miss Thomas' students helped with the video and letters.  The students had a wonderful time donating to others as well as learning lessons about economics.
